Cyber threats are currently the biggest concern for companies worldwide, at least according to Allianz Insurance in its annual Risk Barometer. The threat of ransomware attacks and IT outages worries companies even more than business and supply chain disruptions, natural disasters or the war in Ukraine, all of which have severely affected companies in recent years.

The fundamental trend in cybercrime is obvious: in addition to the number of attacks, the quality of attacks is also continuing to increase. Cyber extortion in particular poses a major threat potential due to the resulting high damage caused by long-lasting business interruptions and the high costs of restarting business processes. Blackmailers are increasingly using multiple modi operandi that also affect the analogue lives of managing directors, managers and their families.
